My Fasting Journal - Day 31

May 18th, 2006 Thursday
Weight= 115lbs

Woke up feeling great!

I had a few figs (soaked in water overnight) in the morning. At first, the fig tasted delicious. Then, I started to feel that it was too sweet for my taste. After eating four tiny figs, I felt I was stuffed to my throat!!

It’s amazing how little food our bodies need to sustain. We constantly stuff ourselves with unnecessary bigger portion of food and over-work our digestive system. As every part of our body is connected, different problems arise from unhealthy way of eating. Just like what I've learned from the movie, "Ayurveda, The Art of Being",- In this modern world, many people suffer from the disease of excess.

For dinner, I had a very small green salad with a little dressing. I thought, “Great! Finally I can taste some different flavors.” But, to my surprise, I didn’t like the sour, salty taste of the dressing. The taste was almost irritating to me. I totally didn’t expect this. My taste buds were super sensitive!

My body was craving for the fresh fruit juice.

I will definitely try not to overcook food from now on.

I cleared out my fridge and pantry; one big bag of trash! There were foods that I’ve totally forgotten that they existed.

This is the last day that I am writing this journal. This fast has been a great experience. I plan to do it every year. Am I going to be a vegetarian? I wish I could, but I can't give up seafood. Life should be fun. :-) and gourmet food from different cultures makes our lives much more interesting.

I am off to a new adventure with positive attitude and healthier body. I am feeling happy and very content.
